Shooting Range
Shot and Ball offers a 100 metre open air rifle range as well as various 3 metre to 25 metre pistol and shotgun ranges with scenario handgun and shotgun options to its members or to prospective firearm competency seekers. Popular shoots include 3 Gun Disciplines (Handgun, Semi or pump action Shotgun and Self Loading Rifle or Carbine); Practical Pistol scenarios; such as the El Presidente; Revolver Pin Shooting and many others. Military re-enactment rifle shoots are also a popular feature on our range with fun to be had by participants and observers alike. Clay pigeon shooting facilities and instruction are available with either your own or our firearms
Sport Shooting Club
Shooting range and clubhouse facilities are available to members. The clubhouse is fully equipped with pool table, drinks cooler, tea and coffee facilities and an adjacent lapa and braai area. Paid-up membership of the Shot and Ball Shooting Club permits immediate occasional sport-shooter status with the International Firearm Training Academy Shooting Association, which can soon grow to dedicated sport-shooter status after the required number of points are acquired through attendance of club shoots, via grading shoots and via individual range attendance and use. Popular shoots include 3 Gun Disciplines (Handgun, Semi or pump action Shotgun and Self Loading Rifle or Carbine); Practical Pistol scenarios; such as the El Presidente; Revolver Pin Shooting and many others. Club shoots are held on the third Saturday of every month, while grading shoots are offered from time to time. Members who wish to stay over at the guest-house facilities are eligible for reduced accommodation tariffs as per the pricelist. Club members benefit from substantial rebates on all unit standard competency training. The Shot and Ball Range Café is a casual and comfortable eatery. The menu includes a variety of barbeques, burgers, sandwiches, chips etc. We also specialise in home-grown organic products including venison and European Wild Boar dishes.
Firearm Training Centre
Club members as well as the general public have the option of completing a range of unit standards registered with the SAPS and the PFTC. The fully registered firearm training centre assists private and prospective gun owners in obtaining the requisite qualifications as prescribed by law. Training can be provided on a one-on-one basis to the busy business person or in group format dependent upon the client requirement. Our highly experienced staff also specialises in the provision of self-defence courses including the use of non-lethal self-defence methods. Women’s only courses are on offer regularly, either in group format or in a one-on-one setting – please enquire regarding the next available date. Our operational arm specialises in the training of security officers including firearm competency and tactical training for rapid response personnel.
Accommodation and Events
Removed from the hustle and bustle of city life our mountain retreat offers good food, well-appointed accommodation, personalised service, walks in breathtakingly beautiful surroundings and champagne quality mountain air. With our policy of regretfully declining young children under the age of 12 as guests we are able to ensure a tranquil atmosphere designed to de-stress and re-invigorate our visitors. Clay pigeon shooting, pistol and rifle craft, hiking, archery as well as bird watching are on offer to our guests. Apart from sumptuous breakfasts we can provide dinners, lunches and teas for those who do not want to self-cater for the duration of their stay. For others we can recommend some excellent eateries, from five star cuisine to good hearty country meals. Anglo-Boer war tours in this battle-rich historical environment can be arranged and the prehistoric attractions of these mountains, considered to be amongst the oldest ranges in the world, will fascinate those who ponder on the past.
